Stolen Car From Belleville Used In Montclair Attempted Burglary: Police

The resident's dog entered the room and began to bark, scaring off the suspects, police said.

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — A stolen car from Belleville was seen fleeing into Verona after it was involved in an attempted burglary in Montclair last weekend, police say.

According to the Montclair Police Department, two men tried to enter a Highland Avenue home through a side sliding door around 6 a.m. on Sunday.

When the suspects attempted to open the door, the resident’s dog entered the room and began to bark, causing both suspects to run away, police said.

The suspects got into a grey Audi Q7 that was waiting at the end of the driveway, which had two other males inside. The vehicle then fled the scene, police said.

A detective saw the fleeing vehicle and determined it was stolen from Belleville. It was last seen headed south on Mount Prospect Avenue in Verona, authorities said.
