Stolen Car, Vehicle Burglaries Reported In Montclair: Police

MPD: Two vehicles were rummaged through. A car was stolen from a local driveway.

MONTCLAIR, NJ — Several vehicle-related crimes were reported in Montclair last week, including a stolen car, authorities announced Tuesday.

The Montclair Police Department released the following details about each incident:

Dec. 3 (Carolin Road) – A car owner told officers that his work vehicle was entered and $600 was stolen from the center console. A witness said they saw a man get out the passenger side of a black BMW SUV, open the driver’s side door of the victim’s pickup truck, then get back into the SUV and drive eastbound on Carolin Road, police said.

Dec. 3 (Christopher Street) – A worker told officers that after completing a job at a home on Christopher Street, he returned to his truck to find the center console open. A leather pouch containing personal documents was stolen. While taking information for the report, the officer was approached by three additional victims, who reported that their vehicles were also entered. Stolen items included backpacks with clothing and personal documents, police said.

Dec. 9 (Warren Place) – A resident reported that his 2021 Volvo XC9 was stolen from his driveway during the overnight hours. It was recovered later that day in Newark, police said.
