‘Sun Day’ In Montclair Will Shine A Light For Climate Justice
Local events are being organized nationally to promote renewable energy and a transition away from fossil fuels.

Montclair environmental groups and faith communities, as well as those from surrounding towns, are joining the global mobilization for Sun Day on Saturday, Sept. 20 and Sunday, Sept. 21.
Sun Day is being organized by faith and environmental groups across the country to call attention to the promise of renewable energy and the importance of a just transition away from fossil fuels in order to avoid the disastrous effects of runaway global warming and climate change.

The sponsoring groups are organizing one of the largest collection of events nationwide, including:
- Climate Justice reading and conversation book group, Saturday, Sept. 20 from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Montclair Public Library, 50 South Fullerton Avenue (maximum capacity 18, pre-registration required)
- Turn On The Lights ceremony, Saturday, Sept. 20 from 12:45 to 1:15 p.m. on the Front Lawn at First Congregational Church, 40 South Fullerton Avenue
- Solar house tour: 1 to 3 p.m. at four houses around Montclair
- Clean Energy Fair: Saturday, Sept. 20 from 3 to 5 p.m., Union Congregational Church, 176 Cooper Avenue
- Renew your energy party: 3 to 5 p.m., Guild Room, First Congregational Church 40 South Fullerton Avenue (maximum capacity 75, pre-registration encouraged)
All events are open to the public. Sun Day Montclair is co-sponsored by Interfaith Climate Action, GreenFaith NJ, Montclair Climate Action, the Northeast Earth Coalition, the Sierra Club Gateway Group, and Third Act.
