Two Drug Busts In Two Days

The following arrest information was supplied by the Montclair Police Department and does not indicate a conviction.

 

Montclair Police made two drug arrests in two days, one involving Ecstasy and the other heroin.

A man carrying Ecstasy was arrested on June 29 after police recognized his silver Infiniti traveling south on Orange Road, police said Friday.

They also recognized the driver as David Gunthorpe, 35, of North Plainfield, someone with warrants out for his arrest.

Further investigation revealed that Gunthorpe was carrying Ecstasy. He was charged with possession of drugs, with bail set at $25,000.

A day later, another man—this one carrying heroin—was arrested after police recognized him as someone, again, with a warrant out for his arrest.

After stopping Roy Ponton Jr. near Grove Street and Bloomfield Avenue, police found he was carrying three glassine envelopes containing heroin.

Ponton was charged with possession of drugs, with bail set at $5,000.
