Hiker Rescued From Pyramid Mountain In Morris County, Police Say
First responders found the injured hiker on a trail in Pyramid Mountain Park of the Morris County Park system.
MORRIS COUNTY, NJ — Rescue crews tackled tough terrain this weekend to help an injured hiker who got stuck on a trail on the Kinnelon side of Pyramid Mountain.
The man, a resident of New Providence, was taken out of the woods on an all-terrain vehicle and brought to Morristown Medical Center for medical treatment, according to the Morris County Sheriff's Office.
The Morris County Sheriff's Office was joined by the Montville, Kinnelon and Butler fire departments, Parsippany-Troy EMS and Saint Clare’s paramedics after receiving a call for assistance shortly after 1 p.m. Saturday.

Emergency responders navigated rocky terrain and located the man near Whale Head Rock, one of the three distinctive glacial erratic boulders left by the Wisconsin Glacier over 18,000 years ago, which hikers can see along the trail.
Mark Chiarolanza, a spokesperson for the Morris County Sheriff's Office, told Patch the hiker had accidentally ended up on a difficult trail, which likely led to the need for rescue.

Montville Fire Chief Jim Longobardi told TAPinto Montville that the hiker, who had undergone heart bypass surgery in June, was on his second hike since the surgery this past Saturday when he experienced a medical emergency.
The man's name was not released and his condition was unknown Monday afternoon.
