I-287 Road Buckle Repairs To Continue Into Next Week: Here’s What To Expect

The repairs come after another road buckle rocked I-287 southbound on Wednesday, due to the extreme heat wave.

MORRIS COUNTY, NJ — Repairs on I-287 southbound are expected to continue into next week, according to the NJ Department of Transportation.

The repairs follow the second buckling of the I-287 roadways this week, which occurred due to the extreme heat wave on Wednesday afternoon.

The repairs are taking place between Exit 57/Skyline Drive in Oakland and mile post 50, which is after the Brook Valley Road Bridge over I-287 in Montville, according to officials.

Repairmen will open certain lanes at specific times, officials said.

“These emergency repairs are expected to continue during the day on Thursday and Friday, as well as at night through next week, as necessary,” a statement read. “To minimize the impact to traffic, all lanes are expected to be open during peak morning and afternoon travel times.”

Thursday, June 26 and Friday, June 27

  • 8:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. Up to two lanes closed, at least one lane open
  • 4 p.m. – 9 p.m. All lanes open
  • 9 p.m. – 5 a.m. Up to two lanes closed, at least one lane open

Monday, June 30 through Wednesday, July 2

  • 9 p.m. – 5 a.m. Up to two lanes closed, at least one lane open
