MONTVILLE, N.J.– Cedar Hill Elementary was named a 2016 Blue Ribbon School, Montville Public Schools announced.
The National Blue Ribbon Schools Program recognizes outstanding public and non-public schools, according to its website.
Public schools are nominated by the Chief State School Officer in each state, the website states.

Cedar Hill was nominated in the Exemplary High Performing Schools category.
According to the National Blue Ribbon website, schools in this category have their state's highest high school graduation rates and the "highest achieving students" – top 15 percent – in English and math as measured by state assessments.
