100-MPH Tornado Confirmed In Moorestown After Saturday Storm
Tornados in Burlington County have become more frequent in recent years. Here's a look at Moorestown amid the storm's aftermath.

MOORESTOWN, NJ — A tornado that hit Moorestown recorded winds of 100 mph and grew to 600 yards wide on Saturday, according to post-storm analysis. The event toppled trees and power lines, but there were no reported injuries, the National Weather Service said.
Hundreds throughout Burlington County still lacked power on Monday, but PSE&G tallied only five outages in Moorestown as of 12:30 p.m. The utility company estimates restoration in the township at 1:45 p.m. Monday.
Meanwhile, 603 customers in Delran 203 in Cinnaminson lacked power as of 12:30 p.m. Monday. The tornado pushed through both townships before entering Moorestown.

The National Weather Service believes the tornado entered Moorestown around the Esther Yanai Preserve. The damage path was lost because of the lack of road networks in the preserve, but officials found minor tree and limb damage near John Pryor Field.
More-widespread damage occurred near Hartford Road and Worthington Drive — an intersection down the street from the field — where multiple softwood trees uprooted or snapped. The wide swath of tree damage continued into Dominion Drive, where several uprooted trees leaned against power lines along Borton Landing Road.
The tornado likely began to wrap up at that point, officials said.
In recent years, tornados have become more frequent in Burlington County. The area went from zero confirmed tornados from 2005-2018 to at least seven since 2019, according to the National Centers for Environmental Information.
