LUMBERTON, NJ — Ark Brew Pub, a bar and restaurant in Burlington County, has abruptly closed.

The Lumberton business announced its abrupt closure on Friday. Ark Brew Pub did not say what led to the decision.

"After four years it is with a heavy heart that Ark Brew Pub will be shutting its door effective immediately," Ark Brew Pub said Friday on social media. "To all our beloved guests and amazing staff, we thank you for all the memories."

"Our main focus today is to help staff replace jobs that were lost due to this," Ark Brew Pub said. "We will have a solution for all Gift Cards shortly."

Ark originally opened in 2020 under the name Ark Brewery. Despite its name, the business was known for its smoked barbecue and full-service bar.

It rebranded to Ark Brew Pub early this year — around the time the brewery faced legal trouble.

In September 2023, the state accused Ark of selling beer that wasn't registered for retail sales, serving alcohol purchased from liquor stores instead of approved distributors, and possessing contaminated bottles — among other offenses.

Ark pleaded no contest, waiving its right to a hearing or appeal. As a result, Ark shut down for six weeks in January and February, when its license was suspended. Ownership must also pay a $50,000 fine by May 2025.

Shortly after, the business rebranded as Ark Brew Pub and began brewing its own beer on-location for the first time.
