Does Burlington Co. Have America's Best Farmers Market? It's A National Finalist

MOORESTOWN, NJ — The Burlington County Farmers Market is up for some national prestige.

The farmers market, which is held in Moorestown, is one of 20 finalists competing in the USA Today 10BEST contest to be named the best farmers market in the nation.

Each contender was chosen by a panel of experts chosen by USA Today. The winner will be determined through online voting, which will close at noon April 14.

This is the first time that the Burlington County Farmers Market was nominated as a finalist in the national contest.

The national attention benefits Burlington County's local farms, artists and small-business vendors, says County Commissioner Deputy Director Allison Eckel.

"Just being selected as a finalist with this group is an honor and a reflection of the market's outstanding farms and vendors, and the enthusiasm and support of not only Burlington County’s residents and communities but the entire region as well," Eckel said in a statement.

Now in its 19th season, the farmers market has grown each year and routinely attracts thousands of shoppers each week, according to the county.

Last year, it was voted New Jersey's top farmers market in American Farmland Trust's annual contest.

Earlier this month, the farmers market kicked off its "preseason" that gives local farms and vendors the chance to sell their products on select Saturdays before the weekly farmers market season begins in May. Read more: Farmers Market Returns To Moorestown As Burlington Co. Kicks Off Preseason

The "regular season" market will run weekly, rain or shine, on Saturdays from May 10 through Nov. 22. It's held at the Burlington County Agricultural Center (500 Centerton Rd., Moorestown).
