Burlington County COVID-19 Vaccination Megasite Reopens This Week

The new COVID-19 vaccination megasite in Burlington County will be open at a former AC Moore in Mount Laurel.

MOUNT LAUREL, NJ — A second COVID-19 vaccination megasite is reopening in South Jersey this week, officials said on Monday.

A site at the former AC Moore on Nixon Drive in Mount Laurel is slated to have a soft opening this week, New Jersey State Police Superintendent Col. Patrick Callahan said during a news conference.

The site will provide vaccinations for children ages 5 to 11 years old, by appointment only. More than 2,000 children are already registered to get vaccinated.

A full opening is slated for next week, and that will include both first and second doses, as well as booster shots for adults, Callahan said.

A third site is being set up at the Bridgewater Commons Mall in Somerset County, with next week targeted for that opening, Callahan said.

The first megasite, in Gloucester County, reopened last month. It is set up at the Gloucester County Public Works Complex, 1200 North Delsea Drive in Clayton, and administers about 175 doses a day, Callahan said. It is open Tuesday through Saturday, and no appointments are needed, according to Gloucester County officials.

Like the previous Burlington County megasite at the Moorestown Mall, Virtua Health will serve as the healthcare partner for the Mount Laurel megaiste.

It will be open Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.; and on Thursday and Friday from 11 a.m. to 5:45 p.m.

The site at the Moorestown Mall was open from January through July, and administered more than 390,000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine during that time, according to officials. Read more here: COVID-19 Vaccine Site At Moorestown Mall To Close Friday

Megasites closed over the summer as vaccinations shifted to a more local focus. They are reopening as the availability of the vaccine expands, and as booster shots have been approved.
