Code Blue In Effect For Burlington County As Winter Storm Nears

Burlington County will be under a Code Blue Weather Emergency as the state braces for another winter storm.

BURLINGTON COUNTY, NJ — Burlington County will continue to be under a Code Blue Weather Emergency this weekend as another winter storm is set to pound the Garden State.

A Code Blue will be in effect for Burlington County from 7 p.m. Friday night until 7 p.m. Monday night, county officials announced on Friday.

According to the National Weather Service, 1 to 3 inches of snow is expected to fall along I-95 and 3 to 4 inches in areas further northwest. The accumulating snow could mix with sleet before turning to rain on Sunday night. Read more here: How Much Snow Will NJ Get? Latest Estimates Released

A Code Blue declaration is made in Burlington County when frigid weather conditions pose a threat of serious harm or death to individuals or families without shelter. During the declaration, the County provides for short-term sheltering in clean, safe locations.

Residents in need of shelter are encouraged to call the Burlington County Board of Social Services at 609-261-1000 or the Burlington County Housing Hub at 609-265-5185. Staff there will direct callers to the most appropriate shelter. After hours or on weekends or holidays, call 211 for assistance.

“Temperatures are dropping, so we’re encouraging all those in need of help to reach out,” Commissioner Felicia Hopson, liaison to the Burlington County Health Department and Human Services Department, said. “Our Code Blue sheltering program is ready, and we don’t want anyone to have to spend the night outdoors or in unsafe conditions.”

Increasing clouds, with a high near 24. Wind chill values as low as -1. North wind around 10 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.

Saturday Night
Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly clear, with a low around 10. North wind 5 to 10 mph.

Sunday
A chance of snow after 4pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 34. East wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Sunday Night
Snow before 10pm, then rain. Low around 31. Breezy. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between three quarters and one inch possible.

Monday
A chance of rain before 1pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 41. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

Partly cloudy, with a low around 26.
