EVESHAM, NJ — Homes were evacuated and construction vehicles caught fire after a major gas leak Monday in Evesham.
Construction workers accidentally ruptured an underground gas line while excavating at about 9:30 a.m. around Iron Gate and Nottingham roads, police said.
The escaping gas sparked a fire, setting three construction vehicles ablaze, according to Evesham Fire-Rescue.

Nearby homes were evacuated as a precaution while firefighters extinguished the blaze.
No injuries were reported. The fire was contained to the work zone, but one home sustained minor, exterior heat damage, officials said.
