Driver Killed After Attempting To Pass Truck On I-295 In South Jersey: Police

A Pennsylvania man died early Friday morning after attempting to pass a truck on I-295, authorities said.

MOUNT LAUREL, NJ - A Pennsylvania man died early Friday morning after attempting to pass a truck on I-295 in South Jersey, authorities said.

A preliminary investigation found that a Kia Sportage, which was traveling in the center lane behind a Peterbilt truck, attempted to pass the truck on the left at around 12:43 a.m. near milepost 39 in Mount Laurel, a New Jersey State Police spokesperson told Patch.

The driver of the Kia, Michael Antell, 33, of Drexel Hill, P.a., sustained serious injuries after colliding with the truck, the spokesperson said. Antell was taken to Cooper Trauma Center where he was later pronounced dead.

The driver of the truck was not injured, the spokesperson added.

The accident remains under investigation.
