A Special Black History Month Event at the Smith-Cadbury Mansion

Make sure not to miss a presentation by former Moorestown resident Dianne Cross on the story of Sgt. Isaac Hall, an African-American soldier in the Civil War.

The year 2013 is the United States Colored Troops Sesquicentennial—150 years since the recruitment of blacks into the Civil War. Mrs. Cross, who is the great-great-grandaughter of Isaac Hall, will discuss his story from slavery to soldier to freedom, based on oral histories and 19th century documents. Copies of her DVD on the subject, A Long Overdue Story, will be available after the talk.

This presentation is part of the Historical Society’s Coffee Klatch series. Light refreshments will be served and the $10 admission goes toward funding the upcoming handicapped access ramp project. All are welcome.
