Homicide At Park In Burlington Co. Under Investigation: Prosecutor

A man was fatally shot in the park, authorities said. No arrests were announced as of Tuesday.

MOUNT HOLLY, NJ — A homicide is under investigation after a man was shot Monday at a park in Mount Holly, authorities said.

The man was shot around 5:45 p.m. at Mill Dam Park, according to the Burlington County Prosecutor's Office.

No arrests were made as of Monday night, and the victim's identity has not been released.

New information about the case will not be released on Tuesday, said a spokesperson for the prosecutor's office.

The shooting happened near the intersection of Wall Street and Pine Street, which is just outside the park, officials said.

Officers from multiple agencies flocked to Mill Dam Park to investigate on Monday.

Mount Holly's police chief asked the public Monday night to avoid the area until further notice.

"For your safety and to allow us to properly process the scene, Mill Dam Park will remain closed until further notice," said Chief Clifford Spencer.

"We understand how concerning incidents like this are for our residents," Clifford continued. "Please know that your safety remains our top priority, and we will share additional updates as soon as we are able."

An autopsy will be conducted on Tuesday.
