Man Fatally Struck On Highway IDed After Burlington Co. Collision: Police

He was struck after getting out of his vehicle for a different crash, authorities said.

MOUNT LAUREL, NJ — The man who was fatally struck Sunday on the New Jersey Turnpike after getting into a different crash and exiting his vehicle has been identified.

Allen Jenkins, 43, of Hamilton, was hit by a tractor-trailer at 2:50 a.m. on the highway in Mount Laurel, State Police told Patch. He sustained deadly injuries.

Jenkins was outside his vehicle after being involved in a prior crash, said Sgt. Jeffrey Lebron, a State Police spokesperson.

He walked into the southbound right lane, where a Peterbilt tractor-trailer struck him, Lebron said.

No other injuries were reported.

The crash remains under investigation, and no other information is available, Lebron said on Monday.
