Moorestown Kids Ring in Mother's Day with Sweet Songs
A Baker School tradition continues with making moms cry before Mother's Day—but in a good way!

Shelly Rowe, Baker School's principal, submitted the following to Moorestown Patch:
On May 11, the first-grade students at treated their moms to a special Mother’s Day concert. This concert is one of the many long-standing traditions at Baker School and is held yearly on the Friday prior to Mother’s Day.
The children welcomed their mothers by beginning with the Baker School theme song. They recited a poem and sang numerous songs, including “You Are My Sunshine,” “Love Somebody” and “Moms Are Great.” A highlight of the show was their rendition of the adorable “Mother Gooney Bird” song, complete with movements. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house when the singers closed the show with the very moving Barry Manilow song, “I Am Your Child.”

The concert was produced under the direction of Baker’s music teacher, Mrs. Kristin Dzuranin.
After the concert, and after all the eyes were dried, the children invited their mothers to their classrooms where they presented them with gifts. One gift was a large tissue paper flower which they made in art class under the direction of Baker’s art teacher, Mrs. Katie Paetzold. The other gifts included a tea cup craft and a special writing project starring each child’s mother. Each child also created a Time magazine cover which features their mother as “Mother of the Year” as well as a portrait of their mom. These gifts are sure to become family keepsakes.
