Moorestown Police Monitoring Schools Amid Tik Tok Threats
There is an increased police presence at Moorestown Schools Friday after a threat that was made nationwide on Tik Tok.
MOORESTOWN, NJ — Out of an abundance of caution, Moorestown police have extra officers on duty and are focused on the schools in response to a nationwide "challenge" on the social media app Tik Tok warning of the potential for school violence on Friday.
“We were on conference calls with New Jersey State Police all day yesterday, and they put all their resources toward investigating this,” Moorestown Police Chief Lee Lieber said. “There is no credible threat to any schools anywhere in New Jersey.”
Gov. Phil Murphy and the New Jersey Department of Homeland Security each issued statements on the social media threat.

"At this time, there appears to have been a generic threat shared on social media that has impacted various school districts," the New Jersey Department of Homeland Security said in a statement. "We believe these posts to be non-credible threats at this time, however, all threats are being reviewed, assessed, and shared with appropriate law enforcement entities throughout the State."
Anyone who has any information about potential threats can make a report any time of the day to NJOHSP's CTWatch at 866-4SAFENJ (866-472-3365) or tips@njohsp.gov.
