Moorestown Woman Who Abused Immigrants Into Forced Labor Loses Nursing License: AG

The nurse lured the victims into the country, stole their immigration documents and forced them to work around-the-clock, authorities said.

MOORESTOWN, NJ — A nurse from Moorestown who was convicted of luring two immigrant women into forced servitude had her professional license revoked, according to the New Jersey Attorney General's Office.

Bolaji Bolarinwa lured two women into the United States, confiscated their immigration documents, and forced them to perform domestic labor and care for her children through abuse and threats, according to federal prosecutors.

Bolarinwa was convicted in the case in April 2024. This past May, she was sentenced to 3 years, 9 months in prison.

The Board found Bolarinwa performed criminal acts that defied her obligation to promote public health and safety. She also engaged in professional misconduct by failing to mention the charges filed against her on her 2023 license-renewal form, authorities said.

Between 2015 and 2016, Bolarinwa lured two women into the United States with false promises, authorities said. She then coerced both victims to perform domestic labor and childcare services through physical harm, threats of violence, constant surveillance and psychological abuse, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.

The women worked around-the-clock every day for minimal pay, officials said. The victims lived and worked in Bolarinwa's home until October 2016, when one of them notified a professor at her college. The professor alerted the FBI.

Bolarinwa was indicted in 2022.

Last year, a jury found Bolarinwa guilty of two counts of forced labor, two counts of domestic servitude and one count of alien harboring for financial gain.

Her husband was also convicted in the trial, but he was acquitted on appeal. Online court records do not indicate what factors led to the acquittal.

Bolarinwa has also appealed her conviction, but a decision has yet to be made.

Along with prison time, Bolarinwa was also ordered to pay a $35,000 fine and restitution of $87,518.72.

Bolarinwa hails from Nigeria but is a U.S. citizen, the DOJ says.
