Joseph G. Giardino passed away peacefully on August 10, 2022 at the Masonic Village in Burlington, NJ, at the age of 102. Joe graduated from Brooklyn College in 1942 and received his Master’s Degree from Columbia University following service in the US Navy during WW II.
After graduation, Joe lived in Rome, Italy for fifteen years, working at Radio Free Europe, before returning to the United States with his family in 1962. Joe pursued his lifelong dream of teaching and accepted a position as an English professor at Dutchess Community College in upstate New York, where he worked until his retirement. After a long detour to Diamondhead, Mississippi, to live near his son Marco, Joe moved to Moorestown, NJ with his daughter Joanne and husband Gary in 2021. Throughout his life, Joe treasured good literature, classical music and, above all, chocolate in any form.

Joseph was predeceased by his wife of 67 years Livia (nee Meschini), his son Marco Giardino, his brothers, Louis Giardino and Edward “Pasquale” Giardino and his sister Angela Giardino.
He is survived by his daughter Joanne Seltzer and her husband Gary, grandchildren Kate Seltzer, Hallie Seltzer, Michael Giardino, Luca Giardino and Andrea “Annie” Nettles. He delighted in his great-grandchildren Aaron Hinrichs, Ada Hinrichs, Alessandro Giardino, Eli Nettles, Joseph “Briggs” Nettles, Madelyn Giardino and Livia Giardino. Joe will be entombed with his wife in the Biloxi National Cemetery, Biloxi, MS.
