Ronald Winzinger Arrested in Fatal Hit-and-Run

New Jersey State Police said a Burlington County man is responsible for a weekend car accident that left a 29-year-old woman dead and .

Ronald Winzinger, 35, of Hainesport, surrendered himself at the state police’s Bordentown station on Monday evening.

Police say Winzinger plowed into a Mazda with his Nissan Xterra at 11:40 a.m. on Saturday, June 2 on I-676. Winzinger reportedly exited his vehicle, but fled the scene when he saw the extent of the injuries and damage.

An initial investigation pegs excessive speed and Winzinger’s attempts to change lanes to exit the road as causing the crash.

Several people were injured in the Mazda, which had stopped for traffic. Michelle MacInnes, 29, of Jackson, died from her injuries.

Police had put out several bulletins asking for the public’s help in locating the driver and the Xterra, which authorities say had heavy damage. After he turned himself in, Winzinger led police to the damaged vehicle, which was under a tarp in a parking lot near the suspect’s home.

Winzinger is charged with leaving the scene of a fatal motor vehicle accident (second degree) and hindering apprehension (third degree). He was sent to the Camden County Jail with $75,000 full cash bail.
