Suspended Moorestown Cop Guilty on Sex Assault Charges
Robert Melia and his ex-girlfriend, Heather Lewis, were found guilty in Superior Court Friday on multiple counts of sexual assault and other charges, though the jury was hung on several other counts.

A jury found suspended officer Robert Melia and his ex-girlfriend, Heather Lewis, guilty on multiple sexual assault charges in Superior Court Friday afternoon.

After two full days of deliberation, the jury found Melia guilty on 22 counts, including many of the more serious sexual assault charges, as well as a count of official misconduct. The jury was hung, however, on 18 of the counts against Melia.
Lewis was convicted on 25 counts, not guilty on one count, and the jury was hung on 19 counts against Lewis.

Bail was immediately revoked for both Melia and Lewis and they were taken into custody.
Melia and Lewis had been accused of sexually assaulting three teenage girls; Lewis faced additional charges for allegedly molesting a teenage boy.
