Voorhees Animal Orphanage to Host 29th Annual Woofstock Festival
Dog-friendly community fundraising festival offers activities, raffle and more
Calling all animal lovers and their purrfect pets! The Voorhees Animal Orphanage (VAO) is getting ready to paw-ty at its 29th Annual Woofstock Festival, a family and pet-friendly outdoor event open to the public, on Saturday, September 27 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Voorhees Town Center in Voorhees Township, N.J. Entry to the festival is just $2 per person or $5 per family of three or more, and proceeds from Woofstock, VAO’s largest fund-raising event of the year, support medical care, pet food and supplies for the community shelter’s homeless dogs and cats.
“Woofstock is our biggest annual fundraiser, and nothing makes us happier than to see our community show up and support our life-saving mission with their donations and attendance,” said Jennifer Bailey, marketing director of VAO. “Animal shelters have been hard-hit in recent years, but all the support and proceeds from this event allow us to continue providing medical care, food and shelter for homeless cats and dogs until they find their forever homes.”
The pet-tacular event will feature dog demonstrations, food trucks, over 100 craft and retail vendors, the VAO alumni parade led by Hegeman String Band and emceed by Fox 29’s Dawn Timmeney, music from the Red Sky Trio, a Kid’s Zone, animal rescue groups, a beer garden sponsored by Tonewood Brewing and a huge gift basket raffle pavilion that boasts more than 150 baskets!

About the Voorhees Animal Orphanage
Founded in 1988, the Voorhees Animal Orphanage (VAO) is a nonprofit community animal shelter and 501(c)(3) charitable organization dedicated to providing shelter, food and medical care to stray and unwanted animals, until permanent and loving homes can be found. VAO does not receive any local, state or federal funding. We rely on grants and generous contributions of individuals and corporations. Currently, VAO serves 26 towns in southern New Jersey, 22 of which are in Camden County. VAO works with rescue partners across the country to rescue animals from overcrowded and high-kill shelters. In 2024, VAO saved over 2,360 lives and achieved a live release rate of 92.8 % (a.k.a. “no-kill”). To learn more about VAO visit https://www.vaonj.org/.
