What to Know for Tonight's Council Meeting

Field improvements, reassessment and budget talks take center stage at tonight's meeting.

Township council meets at 7:30 tonight in the auditorium. Here's what's on the agenda:

  • Mayor John Button said budget discussions have "taken a little bit of a hit recently," adding, "There's still some outstanding information we're expecting to get." However, following tonight's meeting, the mayor expects the budget to be the township's "absolute A priority." The budget adoption deadline for municipalities was April 20. Moorestown adopted its budget on June 27 last year, according to the state Department of Community Affairs. Button has .
  • Council will consider an ordinance on first reading to issue bonds for field improvements at , which were . The mayor said the cost of the Pryor Park project comes to roughly $430,000, with the Moorestown Youth Baseball Federation—the primary beneficiary of the improvements—having committed around $300,000 so far. 
  • The township has until the end of the week to decide on how it will proceed with the rest of the field improvements (). A special meeting was scheduled for last week, . Button has made it clear he wants to reach a decision on all the projects by the end of tonight's meeting. 
  • Council will vote on an ordinance to authorize a "special emergency appropriation" of $195,080 for a property reassessment program. Button said this is regarding the township-wide reassessment set to begin early this summer. Requests for proposal for the program were due earlier this month.
