Where To Recycle Christmas Lights In Moorestown

Holiday lights can't go in curbside recycling bins. But Moorestown has some collection sites for recycling those unwanted decorations.

MOORESTOWN, NJ — If you're looking to dispose of unwanted Christmas lights, Moorestown has some environmentally friendly options.

Strands of lights cannot go in curbside recycling containers, since they can tangle and damage equipment at Burlington County's Recycling Center. But they don't have to go in the trash.

Unwanted holiday lights can be dropped off at the Burlington County Agricultural Center (500 Centerton Rd., Moorestown). A box for lights can be found outside the Farmhouse Kitchen entrance near the main parking lot through January.

The collection site, created this year, is the county's second for unwanted holiday lights. County residents can also bring them to the e-waste recycling drop-off in the Burlington County Resource Recovery Complex (22000 Burlington-Columbus Rd., Florence).

Sustainable Moorestown, Moorestown Hardware and Our Lady of Good Counsel Church are also partnering to collect and recycle old holiday lights. Collection boxes inside the hardware store and outside the OLGC Rectory will be available until late February.

The partnership has collected 6,600 pounds of lights that would have otherwise ended up in a landfill, according to Sustainable Moorestown.
