Winter Storm, Slippery Roads On Christmas Eve In South Jersey: Latest Forecast
If you're traveling that day, give yourself extra time to reach your destination, according to a winter weather advisory.
SOUTH JERSEY — Snow showers, freezing rain and slippery roads could plague South Jersey commuters and holiday travelers on Christmas Eve.
A winter weather advisory for much of the region will be in effect from 5 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday. It includes Camden, Gloucester, Salem and northwestern Burlington counties.
"Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous," said the National Weather Service's regional office in Mount Holly. "Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions will likely impact the Tuesday morning commute."

Mixed precipitation is expected, with up to 1 inch of snow and a light glaze of ice.

"If you plan to travel tomorrow (Tuesday) morning, plan for some extra time to reach your destination," the NWS said.

The NWS advised drivers to slow down and use caution. And if you go outside, watch your step.
Temperatures will warm above freezing into the afternoon, which forecaster say should help alleviate any slippery road conditions.
On Wednesday, it appears unlikely that New Jersey will have its first White Christmas since 2009, according to the forecast.
Here's the NWS's latest regional forecast:
- Monday afternoon: Mostly sunny, with a high near 26. West wind around 5 mph becoming south.
- Monday night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 19. South wind around 5 mph.
- Tuesday: Snow showers and freezing rain likely before noon, then a chance of rain and snow showers between noon and 2 p.m. Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 38. Southwest wind around 5 mph becoming west in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent. Little or no ice accumulation expected. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
- Tuesday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 24. North wind around 5 mph.
- Wednesday (Christmas Day): Mostly sunny, with a high near 37. North wind around 5 mph.
- Wednesday night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 22.
- Thursday: Partly sunny, with a high near 37.
