1 Injured In Minor Industrial Explosion In Morris Co.
The explosion caused a loud boom and set off questions from residents.
ROCKAWAY, NJ — One person was treated for minor injuries following an explosion at the Tilcon asphalt plant in Rockaway, a spokesperson confirmed.
An internal explosion happened at the Mount Hope Asphalt Plant on June 20, Tilcon New York Inc. spokeswoman Karen Edgar said. The explosion caused a loud boom that was heard by residents in surrounding towns.
"The loud noise was caused when the asphalt mix overheated inside the plant’s mixer. Fortunately, no Tilcon employees were seriously injured as a result of the incident and only one employee needed medical attention and was released the same day," Edgar said.
