2 Injured In Wrong-Way, Multi-Car Crash In Morris County
The crash, which shut down Route 24 for more than three hours, is still being investigated by authorities.
MORRIS COUNTY, NJ — A collision involving a car going the wrong way down Route 24 that left two people with serious injuries is still under investigation, according to State Police Sgt. Philip Curry.
The crash occurred on Thursday, Dec. 8 at 10:46 a.m. in Madison Borough, after a Dodge was traveling east on State Highway 24 west in the right lane, against the flow of traffic.
According to officials, the wrong-way driver, William F. Dempsey, 50, of Florham Park, hit two vehicles, a Mercedes-Benz and a Ram, which were traveling west.

The driver of the Mercedes-Benz sustained serious injuries and the driver of the Ram was not injured, Curry said.
Authorities said Dempsey, who also suffered serious injuries, was charged with driving while intoxicated.

The roadway was closed for approximately three hours, resulting in heavy traffic congestion.
The crash remains under investigation, Curry said.
