Community Raises $65K For Morristown's Favorite 'Ticket Taker Guy'

Eric Glover fell on hard times recently and in less than a week had more than 1,700 strangers pour in tens of thousands to help his cause.

MORRISTOWN, N.J. – The community that he’s welcomed and entertained for more than 20 years didn’t let his hard work go unnoticed.

Eric Glover, lovingly known as the “Ticket Taker Guy” at AMC theatres in Morristown, fell on hard times last year, being underemployed and becoming homeless.

When Lidia Udrija heard the locally famous Glover was struggling, she jumped into action. Udrija knew Glover from around town, but had not yet discussed the situation he was enduring. 

Udrija set up a GoFundMe page and filmed a short video of Glover explaining his plight, which garnered more than 14,000 views in a week. More impressively, the fundraising page – closed late Wednesday night – garnered $65,805 in six days from 1,719 donors.

Glover’s daughter, Shanoa, is helping him get back on his feet with the funds, Udrija said. Glover will continue to work at the movie theatre and the company has publically stated it did not know of their employee’s living situation and would help him through their assistance program.
