Man Sold Defaced Shotgun; Cops Seize 17 Guns From Morris Co Home: Prosecutor
Police said they found evidence the 54-year-old was manufacturing firearm silencers, and seized 17 rifles and handguns from his home.
DENVILLE, NJ — A Denville man faces multiple charges related to the illegal sale and possession of firearms, after officials said he sold a defaced shotgun and they seized more than a dozen guns from his home.
The Morris County Prosecutor's Office announced the arrest of 54-year-old Robert H. Klaar on Wednesday, Feb. 21. Officials alleged Klaar sold a defaced shotgun in January in Denville, and executed a search warrant at his home. Police seized approximately 17 firearms, two firearm silencers, $17,000 in currency, several high-capacity magazines, and numerous rounds of hollow-point ammunition.
Officials said they observed evidence that Klaar was making firearm silencers, and also found assembly manuals. Police also seized drug paraphernalia, and approximately two pounds of marijuana.

Police took Klaar into custody on Feb. 6 after a motor vehicle stop, said the prosecutor's office. He faces charges including:
- Second-degree possession of firearms while in the course of committing a crime related to controlled dangerous substances (CDS)
- Third-degree possession of CDS with intent to distribute
- Third-degree possession of a loaded rifle
- Third-degree defacing of firearms, and conspiracy to deface firearms
- Third-degree money-laundering
Officials said Klaar was released under pre-trial supervision.
