Driving Tickets Jump 36% In Morristown In 2015

Municipal court saw 728 more cases for moving violations year-over-year for six-month period.

MORRISTOWN, N.J. – Morristown’s municipal court dealt with hundreds more driving tickets in 2015 than it did in 2014, according to the New Jersey State’s Department of Justice’s recent report.

From July 2014 to December 2014, Morristown’s municipal court saw 2,010 moving violation tickets. During the same time frame in 2015, the court handled 2,738, a difference of 728 cases or uptick of 36-percent.

The town saw a slight uptick in indictable offenses year-over-year, recording 182 in 2014 versus 192 in 2015.

There was a large drop in parking tickets from 2014 to 2015. The court handled 12,145 parking tickets in 2014 versus 11,534 in 2015; a drop of 611.

Overall, court cases went up slightly from year to year, with 15,304 handled in 2014 to 15,537, the report said.
