Firefighters Extricate Driver From Overturned Jeep

Accident on Interstate 287 near Exit 33 caused traffic delays Thursday afternoon.

The driver of a Jeep that overturned into the median of Interstate 287 around Exit 33 near the Morris Township-Harding border was extricated from the vehicle by firefighters on Thursday afternoon, state police said.

Police said the driver suffered "minor injuries" in the crash, which occurred around 1:30 p.m. near Harter Road.

Firefighters from the New Vernon Fire Department cut one of the Jeep's doors to get the driver out, New Vernon Fire Chief Spencer Natunen said.

The accident blocked the left and center lanes of the highway, causing traffic delays. The vehicle was towed from the scene and the accident was cleared about an hour later.
