Five First Night Points to Keep in Mind

Annual event kicks off at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 31.

The big First Night Morris County event is just a few days away. Here are a few items to keep in mind if you have not yet purchased your tickets to the big end-of-year shindig:

  1. You Need to Know About Paying the Cost to be the Boss: Tickets are $25 to attend First Night, which gives patrons complete access. If you know friends and family will be coming, a four-pack is $90, saving $10 off the entire price.
  2. You Need to Know About First Dine: The folks organizing First Night this year have made it a point to get further out into the community in order to get the word out. First Dine was one of their newest salvos, partnering with a number of Morristown restaurants that are offering discounts to First Night ticket holders. Hungry?
  3. You Need to Know About the Size of the Event: It took 20 years, but First Night Morris County is now the biggest First Night in the state, attracting nearly 10,000 patrons every year, according to their website. That's a lot of merry-makers.
  4. You Need to Know About the Dryness of the Event: While there are bars in Morristown you may want to raise a glass to the new year in, remember, the First Night event itself is entirely alcohol-free.
  5. You Need to Know About the Variety of the Event: There are so many performances during First Night. And, since you can't get to them all, you'll want to plan accordingly. Thank goodness for Patch, . You can thank us in 2012.
