Flash Flood Warning Issued For Morris County
Heavy rain and possible thunderstorms are expected throughout Friday and Saturday.
MORRIS COUNTY, NJ — Prepare your umbrellas and brace yourselves for another wet weekend, as heavy rains are expected to drench Morris County.
The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch through early Saturday, as more than 6 inches of rain may fall in Morris County through then.
"Periods of heavy rain are likely to continue through tonight. Rainfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches are expected, with locally higher amounts of 6 inches or more possible," according to the NWS.

This may cause local flooding and even the possibility of flash floods in certain areas.
As a result, excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone areas.

Local notifications have been issued by police departments in Morristown, Morris Township and Mendham Township, urging residents not to drive through flooded areas of town.
Rain showers began moving into the region overnight Thursday and will become "moderate to heavy at times through Friday night." River flooding concerns could linger into the weekend, the NWS added.

Friday: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Northeast wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. The chance of precipitation is 90 percent. New rainfall amounts between three quarters and one inch possible.
Friday Night: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Low around 54. North wind 10 to 15 mph. The chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and a quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Saturday: A chance of showers, mainly before 2 p.m. Patchy fog before 8 a.m. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a high near 65. North wind 10 to 15 mph. The chance of precipitation is 30 percent. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and a quarter of an inch possible.
Saturday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 55. North wind around 5 mph.
