High School Artists Create Annual Morris County Manual Cover

Top three entrees won prizes.

MORRISTOWN, N.J. – Some 250 entered, but only one could win.

Choosing the annual artwork for the Morris County Manual is no easy task, but the judges found a first, second, and third place winner, all of whom used history and patriotism to reach the top.

Elisa Rose, from Kinnelon High School, won the $500 first prize for her patriotic cover featuring a portrait of George Washington imposed over an American flag.

Second place went to Randolph High School senior Margot Anton who received $300 for her creation of George Washington riding his horse in a Colonial scene.

Third prize and $100 went to Morris Knolls student Alyssa Smith who created the cover with a bald eagle carrying an American flag rippling in the wind.

This year marks the 110th creation of the Morris County Manual which includes contact information and centralized resources for officials and residents concerning their local and county government.

The approximately 70-page booklet (it also can be found online) is filled with key names and contact information of county freeholders, county government officials, congressional and legislative representatives, members of county authorities, boards and commissions, plus personnel in all 39 municipalities.
