Historical Morristown on eBay: Location, Location, Location
We look at a few landmarks in town through the years.
In Morristown, like anywhere, it's all about location, location, location.
Given our town's rich history, there is bound to be something on eBay to put a twinkle in one's eye, for a time gone by. As we'll see, for some locations (like the Washington Building site), history is being made today.
- At 32 Washington St.: There was a used car dealership, as this circa 1930s advertisement displays. This also happens to be the location of what now of the Washington Building, which has been demolished to make way " For $14.99, this piece of history can be yours.
- At Washington Monument Island: There was a Danline Street Sweeper posing in 1962. "Presenting a clean city to the throngs is important," according to this ad. . This also is going for $14.99.
- At WMTR 1250: "For good listening!" Check out this 1940s matchbook, courtesy of the WMTR 1250AM radio station. Today, the mailing address for WMTR 1250 says Cedar Knolls. If anyone can tell us whether that is where it was located 70 years ago (before the "oldies" the station plays today even existed), we would be most appreciative.
- At Morristown Station: Or, as this circa 1920 postcard indicates, "Lackawanna Station." Pick it up for $3.50.
- At ... Varl's Museum? Looks to our eyes like Vail Mansion (minus the new additions, of course). According to this post card, it once was known as "Varl's Museum" apparently? Perhaps an error. Either way, pony up $12 and it's yours to scratch your head at.
