Child Sex Assault Conviction For Morris County Man

A Landing man was found guilty of sexually assaulting a 16-year-old child in 2020, authorities said.

MORRIS COUNTY, NJ — A jury found a Morris County man guilty on all charges Thursday relating to his sexual assault of a child in Mount Olive Township.

Following a three-day trial, Vinicio Orellana, 45, of Landing, was found guilty of three counts of fourth-degree criminal sexual contact and one count of third-degree endangering the welfare of a child.

The charges stem from an incident that occurred on Sept. 27, 2020, in Mount Olive Township, in which Orellana inappropriately touched a 16-year-old girl, the Morris County Prosecutor's Office said.

Mount Olive Township police were notified of the assault on the same day, police said.

Orellana's sentencing date is currently scheduled for Mar. 24, 2023, before Judge Ralph E. Amirata.
