Annual Pride Event Returns To Mendham's Beach

MENDHAM TOWNSHIP, NJ — Mendham Township is once again showing its support for the LGBTQ+ community, with the Mendham Township Recreation Department’s annual Pride Event slated for next week.

On Wednesday, June 18, residents of all ages and backgrounds are invited to Brookside Beach to celebrate LGBTQ+ Pride. The celebration will take place from 6 to 9:30 p.m.

The event, which is in its fifth year, will feature swimming, music and dancing, tattoos and face painting, arts and crafts, and even free ice cream. Participants can also expect “special non-profit displays” serving the LGBTQ+ community.

Come nightfall, a special screening of the 2019 film “Ugly Dolls” will be shown for participants. The animated film is rated PG and has a run-time of 1 hour and 27 minutes.

Brookside Beach Opened

The Brookside Beach officially opened for the season from Saturday, June 7 to Sunday, Aug. 24.

The beach will be open Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Mondays and Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Seasonal memberships are available on the Mendham Township Recreation Department’s website. Prices are as follows:

• Family Membership: $190/$230 (Resident/Non-Resident) — The Family Membership entitles the member to free access to the beach for all hours of open swim for the general public, including float night and early morning swim. A family is defined as two adults and their unmarried children residing in the same household. Additionally, it allows for free access to all of the special events at the beach. Grandparents must have separate memberships.
• Individual Membership: $90/$110 (Resident/Non-Resident) — The Individual Membership entitles the member to free access to the beach for all hours of open swim for the general public, including float night and early morning lap swim. An individual membership is for one person and may not be transferred. Additionally, it allows for free access to all of the special events at the beach.
• Senior Membership: $70/90 (Resident/Non-Resident) - For Adults older than 61

There are also daily rates: $10 for Mendham Residents, $12 for non-residents.
