Morris County Ride-Share Driver Sexually Assaulted Child: Cops
A New Jersey ride-share driver sexually assaulted a child who was a passenger in his car, prosecutors announced.

NEW JERSEY – A New Jersey ride-share driver sexually assaulted a child who was a passenger in his car, prosecutors announced on Thursday.
Julio Mejia, 39, of Wharton in Morris County was arrested for sexually assaulting the juvenile whom he encountered while working as a part-time ride-share driver in Prospect Park, according to the Passaic County Prosecutor's Office.
The sexual conduct occurred between Aug. 18 and Sept. 24, 2019, prosecutors said. At the time of his arrest, Mejia was an active member of the armed services, the PCPO said.

After investigation, Mejia was charged with two counts of sexual assault, one count of endangering the welfare of a child and two counts of criminal sexual contact.
The state has filed a motion for the pretrial detention of Mejia, which is scheduled to be heard on Tuesday before Donna Gallucio, a judge of the Superior Court.
