MORRISTOWN, NJ — Morris Habitat for Humanity has an immediate need for volunteers during the months of January and February. All volunteers will be assisting at The Crossings at Bennett Avenue, a new housing development in Randolph.

The Crossings at Bennett Avenue is being built in collaboration with Randolph Township, which donated the land in 2009.

The development will include four buildings with one, two and three-bedroom condominiums, a community meeting room, sidewalks and bike paths, an outdoor picnic area, a gazebo and a playground.

According to officials, the complex will be handicap accessible and will meet the highest energy efficiency and safety standards.

There is no experience or skill required, and the work is entirely interior, including insulation installation and painting. Volunteers are needed Monday through Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Randolph site, which is located at 42 Bennett Avenue.

When finished, the Crossings will house 25 hardworking families. All future residents are also tasked with performing a minimum of 300 hours of “sweat equity,” working alongside other Habitat volunteers toward building their own homes.

The first phase of the housing project will be completed in early 2023, the organization said.

Morris Habitat for Humanity is a member of a global, nonprofit housing organization dedicated to the construction of homes, communities and hope.

The organization builds affordable new homes and provides home repair services to low-income families using volunteer labor and donations of money and materials. Most recently, the organization built a home in Roxbury for a local family in need.

Morris Habitat for Humanity has served over 780 families since 1985 by constructing 172 local homes, preserving 325 homes for low-income and senior residents, and assisting 282 families worldwide with housing solutions.
