Morris School District's State Aid Increase Is Highest In Morris County

Department of Education releases data for 2016-17 budgets.

MORRISTOWN, N.J. - After spending the last few years receiving state aid that remained flat year-over-year, the Morris School district will see a large uptick in the 2016-17 budget.

The New Jersey Department of Education released its annual state aid figures, and local districts saw minor percentage increases that amounted to tens of thousands of dollars in budget money. In the Morris School District, that increase amounted to hundreds of thousands of dollars.

The district will see a 5.2-percent increase year-over-year, or a total of $338,974, good for both highest percentage and most actual dollars in the county.

The district received $6,461,576 in state aid for the current budget, and will receive $6,800,550 for the 2016-17 school budget.

No Morris County school district saw a flat or decreased figure in state aid.
