Morristown Fiber Fairy Moving Out Of Town, Will Slow Efforts

You might still spot hats and scarves on the statues, but it'll be a lot less often.

MORRISTOWN, NJ — After four and a half years, the Morristown Fiber Fairy's knitting needles will click a lot less often. The Fiber Fairy, an anonymous life-long Morristown resident who left hats and scarves on the Morristown Green statues for those in need, is moving out of the county, she said, and won't be able to continue the project as intensely as she has in previous years.

"We have loved this project and the support that we have received over the years from our incredible Morristown community. We plan to leave hats and scarves on the Morristown statues for people in need each time we drive by the Morristown Green during the winter months," the woman behind the project wrote on its Facebook page. She added that the length of the drive will prohibit the Fairies from leaving winter gear as often as they have before.

Some area friends have been asked to pitch in, she added, so you might still see the hats and scarves from time to time.

"We will do our best to continue the tradition of The Morristown Fiber Fairy," she wrote.

The woman behind the project has remained anonymous during their time in Morristown. She told Patch in 2014 that she wanted to stay anonymous "because it really isn't about me. It's about showing others in the community that each and every one of us has the potential to make a difference in the lives of those around us."
