Morristown Firefighter Of 27 Years Dies At 74
Martin Mackin Jr. grew up in town and was also on the ambulance squad.

MORRISTOWN, N.J. – Martin Mackin Jr. had firefighting in his blood.
The longtime Morristown resident and firefighter died recently at the age of 74.
Born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, Mackin grew up and lived in Morristown for decades before moving to Pennsylvania.

Mackin was a Morristown firefighter for 27 years and a member of the Professional Firefighters FMBA Local #43. Even after his retirement and upon moving to Pennsylvania, Mackin volunteered his time with the Avoca and Duryea fire departments.
While in Morristown, Mackin was also a member of the Morristown Ambulance Squad and St. Margaret’s Roman Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife, Ellen; a son; daughter; and a large extended family.

A Liturgy of Christian Burial to be offered at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 30 at St. Margaret’s Church on Sussex Avenue in Morristown.
