Morristown Fishing Derby Set For Saturday

Annual event originally postponed due to poor weather.

MORRISTOWN, N.J. – April showers might bring May flowers, but they also bring cancellations.

The 2016 Morristown Fishing Contest previously scheduled for 8 a.m. April 9 at Burnham Park was postponed due to weather conditions, and is now set for Saturday, April 16, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Pre-registration for the contest is required and can be done by visiting townofmorristown.org and clicking on the “recreation” page.

The fishing contest is sponsored by the Mayor’s Recreation Advisory Committee and will offer awards in four age groups.

The age groups are 5-6; 7-8; 9-10; and 11-14, and winners will receive prizes for first catch; longest fish; and heaviest fish. Fishers need to bring their own equipment, but bait will be supplied.
