A Morristown handyman sexually assaulted a child while working in a Bergen County home. He was found guilty and sentenced to prison.

MORRISTOWN, NJ — A Morris County handyman hired to work in a family’s home has been sentenced to 40 years in state prison after sexually assaulting a child who lived there, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said.

Alejandro Velasquez-Martinez, of Morristown, was sentenced by Judge Nina Remson on Sept. 29 to 40 years in New Jersey State Prison after being convicted of aggravated sexual assault on a minor.

At the four-day trial, which was held in May, the state presented six witnesses, including two expert witnesses, and argued that on the morning of Aug. 19, 2019, Velasquez-Martinez sexually assaulted a child under the age of 13 while doing tile repairs in her family's Demarest home.
