Morristown Honored With Green Communities Achievement Award

Morristown's Shade Tree Commission will be recognized at a ceremony later this month.

MORRISTOWN, NJ — The Town of Morristown will be honored with the 2018 Green Communities Achievement Award by the New Jersey Forest Service, the New Jersey Community Forestry Council and the New Jersey Tree Foundation.

The town is being honored for their efforts in keeping the town green through the shade tree commission. The commission takes care of regulation, planting, and care of shade and ornamental trees and shrubbery in the town.

“The Town of Morristown is honored to have been selected for the 2018 Green Communities Achievement Award,” said Mayor Timothy Dougherty. “We have worked hard to develop a program that enhances our town’s appearance and benefits the environment. By establishing the Shade Tree Commission (STC), we have been able to maintain, grow and appropriately manage our community forest.”
