Morristown Man Assaulted 2 Women In Hospital Lobby: Cops
Police say the incident occurred randomly; man lodged on $25K bail.

MORRISTOWN, N.J. – A Morristown man is lodged in jail after police say he assaulted a woman at random in the Morristown Medical Center lobby, then injured another who attempted to intervene in the incident.
On Thursday, Jan. 14, police responded to a reported assault at Morristown Medical Center in the front lobby of the building, Lt. Stuart Greer said.
When they arrived, police found Joseph Pyne, 43, of Morristown, detained by the hospital’s security team, Greer said.

An investigation revealed Pyne allegedly approached a Mt. Olive woman, 28, who was in the lobby, and assaulted her, Greer said. While the alleged crime was taking place, a 45-year-old female from Connecticut tried to intervene and was also assaulted as a result, Greer said.
Morristown Medical Center security officers stopped the assault and detained Pyne until police arrived.

Pyne was charged with aggravated assault and lodged in the Morris County Correctional Facility in lieu of $25,000 bail.
The two female victims were evaluated by medical staff in the hospital’s emergency room and later released without life threatening injuries.
“The safety and security of our patients, guests, and employees is our priority across all Atlantic Health System campuses,” said Atlantic Health System spokesperson Elaine Andrecovich. “The Morristown Medical Center security team responded swiftly to a conflict between two visitors after being alerted to the situation by volunteers. Working in tandem with the Morristown Police Department, our team was able to quickly control the situation and remove the offender from hospital premises.”
