Morristown Man Tried Hawking Stolen Cigarettes At Hotel: PD
Police say the man was caught when he called police for medical help at the hotel where he was hawking the stolen cigarettes.
HANOVER, NJ — A Morristown man was arrested for two separate theft incidents while staying at the Red Carpet Inn in Hanover, police said.
Matthew Fedroff, 39, was arrested on Memorial Day at the hotel after police say he stole 100 packs of cigarettes from a local gas station, which he tried to sell to other hotel customers, and stole a computer from the hotel.
According to police, Fedroff burglarized the Lukoil gas station on Route 10, making off with several brands of cigarettes after smashing a window.

While police officers were investigating the cigarette theft, Officer Rich Camasta was called to the Red Carpet Inn on a medical call. During that call, the hotel owner told Camasta that someone has broken into a locked utility closet and stolen a modem and a computer monitor. Then, a hotel guest approached Camasta and told him that a different hotel guest was attempting to sell packs of cigarettes.
When Camasta went to question the man selling the cigarettes, he realized it was the same person who called police for medical assistance, who police identified as Fedroff.
