Morristown Medical Center One Of America's 50 Best Hospitals

MORRISTOWN, NJ — Morristown Medical Center was named New Jersey's top hospital and one of the best in the country by U.S. News and World Report in their 2019 rankings.

The hospital ranks 26th nationally for cardiology and heart surgery, the only New Jersey hospital to land in the top 50. It was also recognized for its orthopedics program, which is 34th in the nation.

To compile the rankings, U.S. News and World Report looked at 4,500 hospitals across the country and considered several metrics, including patient experience and outcome for the first time. The methodology also adjusts for how sick a patient was when they were admitted to the hospital so that hospitals that admit sicker patients are not penalized in the rankings.

Morristown Medical Center is frequently named a top hospital by various publications, including Newsweek, HealthGrades, and Leapfrog, and in a survey of New Jersey doctors.

Other procedures and conditions the hospital was ranked highly in include abdominal aortic aneurysm repair, aortic valve surgery, COPD, heart bypass surgery, heart failure, colon cancer surgery, hip replacement, knee replacement and lung cancer surgery. Regionally, the hospital is a high-performer in five specialties: gastroenterology & GI surgery, geriatrics, nephrology, pulmonology, and urology.
